New Secret Diary Stills
I have added new stills from Secret Diary of a Call Girl to the gallery:
There is also a new clip from the upcoming series. You can view it here. Warning: This clip is not appropriate for younger fans.
She is playing a high-class prostitute on TV, but in private the teen pop star turned actress is expecting her first baby and has gone from wild child to happy domesticity. She tells Barbara Ellen about ‘getting wrecked’ with Chris Evans, falling madly in love with her second husband, and learning to cope with burgeoning success and fame
Although she gives quite the opposite impression on meeting her, there must be something innately restless about Billie Piper. Even at school in her home town of Swindon, she was desperate to get started. ‘I was freakishly ambitious. I didn’t want to be a child. I wanted my own flat, to work and be a grown up.’ At 15, Piper was propelled, via the Sylvia Young theatre school, into a pop career, which, according to her 2006 autobiography, Growing Pains, led to her combining chart success with anorexia. Marriage to Chris Evans was followed by the most amicable divorce in showbiz history and the career-forging role of Dr Who’s assistant Rose. Last year, there was more controversy when Piper took on the role of Hannah/Belle, the high-class prostitute in Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
Quite a lot for a young woman only just about to turn 26? ‘Yes, I do think sometimes that I’ve lived about three different lives,’ grins Piper when we meet to talk at a central London hotel. Six months pregnant, petite, with honey-brown hair, Piper is articulate, funny and self deprecating, as well as disarmingly friendly, pulling her clothes tighter to show me her bump. Filming the second series of Call Girl, they had to work around the pregnancy, her first child, with her husband, actor Laurence Fox. ‘Towards the end, it was all the back of my head or in shadow, like something from The Phantom of the Opera,’ she sighs in her soft, lilting voice. ‘So embarrassing.’
I’ve gone out on a limb and created a Facebook group for this website. It’s titled Billie Piper Fans. I’m not sure how successful this venture will be so please join if you’re on Facebook!
I received an email from Mandy at Billie Piper Daily concerning the Birthday Book and its progress:
Just thought I would inform you about how the books going, its going good and I just have to finish the cover and I will send it of on Monday, didn’t realize it would take this long but with school starting again, I haven’t had much time! Also photos will come on Monday. I have a couple more pages left in the back of the book, so I thought if you want to send any fan art in, you have until Sunday to do so!
Because of the time difference between the US and UK, I’ll take more messages and goodies for the book until Saturday evening at 6pm (Central US time). If you’re still wanting to contribute, please go here.
At just 25 Billie Piper has already been married twice, sunk into suicidal despair and recovered from anorexia.
She has topped the charts as a teen pop star and won awards after reinventing herself as a stylish actress.
But now she is putting her hectic lifestyle behind her and facing up to the biggest challenge of her life — motherhood.
The eight-months pregnant star, who married actor Laurence Fox last New Year’s Eve after a year-long romance, admits to being more relaxed than she has ever been. And she is loving taking time off work and preparing for the baby.
Billie tells The Sun: “I don’t really sit down and smell the roses, ever, but perhaps I should do it more often. Because right now life is really good, it couldn’t be better.
“I’m very much into being at home at the moment. I don’t know when I’ll work again. I’m really just enjoying relaxing and I can’t imagine doing anything else.” Read the rest of this entry »
Secret Diary Double Bill To Kick Off New Series On ITV2
The new series of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl will start on Thursday 11th September at 10:00pm on ITV2 and will be a double bill, with episodes 1 and 2 being shown back to back.
Episode 1:
A journalist tries to blackmail Belle after he spots her with a client who turns out to be a politician. She also finds trouble in the form of Bambi, a girl with aspirations of becoming a high-class escort.
Episode 2:
Belle considers plastic surgery and agrees to go a date with Alex. Meanwhile, Bambi finds herself in a dangerous situation.
Pregnant Billie Piper told yesterday how she struggled to film sex scenes in her raunchy new drama — because she was so hungry.
The actress, 25, expecting her first baby next month, still stripped off in ITV2 hit Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.
But all she could think of was her stomach. She said: “Being pregnant and filming scenes where you’re having to be sexually provocative — when all you want to do is sit in a corner and eat — that was hard for me.”
And her blooming body shape was hard for the crew to work around as she played high class hooker Belle de Jour.
“By the end it was really tricky, I was showing big time,” she said. “I wear tight clothes in the show, so it’s obvious. Plus I was eating like a horse!”
The new series starts this month, with Toyah Wilcox as Belle’s mum. But Billie, wed to actor Laurence Fox, 30, said she is now concentrating on motherhood.
She said: “That’s a relief because it means I don’t have to think about my career.”
Despite a second series as Belle, she is still recognised in the street as Rose in Doctor Who. She said: “Kids en masse are kind of frightening. They all think you’re Rose and you don’t want to spoil the illusion.” But she won’t play Rose again.
Billie told the Radio Times: “You’ve just got to let go.”
I have added several new stills/promotional pictures for series 2 of ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ to the gallery. Billie looks absolutely fabulous and we cannot wait until we see it!:
I also would like to thank everyone who contributed messages and gifts to the Birthday Book Project this year. It was a great success and we really appreciate all the wonderful messages for Billie. Once Mandy @ Billie Piper Daily has finished the book we will update with pictures of what it looks like. Stay tuned for that!
She might look demure but singer-turned-actress Billie Piper has got a reputation for being full of surprises.
From the moment the Swindon girl burst onto the music scene as a 15-year-old, to her marriage to the much older radio DJ Chris Evans, Billie seemed destined to shock.
When she spent a few years out of the spotlight - and had an amicable split from Evans - it looked like she might have settled down.
She turned her hand to acting - starring in a handful of period dramas, doing a film with Orlando Bloom and treading the boards in the West End.
But not long after she won the nation’s hearts with her portrayal of feisty Rose Tyer in Doctor Who, Billie raised eyebrows last year with her decision to play Belle De Jour in Secret Diary of A Call Girl.
While the ratings were among the highest ITV had ever had, it was criticised for its glamorous portrayal of prostitution. Read the rest of this entry »
